New from November 26: Discover Dreamscape, the new Chamber of Wonder by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. A celebration of color and light, Dreamscape invites visitors on an immersive journey through the warm sunlight of Lisbon, brought to life in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps.
“The light in Lisbon is unique,” says Joana Vasconcelos, gazing out of the window of her studio overlooking the city’s harbour. The warmth, brilliance, and energy of this light are at the heart of Dreamscape and will arrive in Austria this winter.
Born in 1971, Joana Vasconcelos is one of Portugal’s most acclaimed contemporary artists. Known for her monumental sculptures and immersive installations, she transforms everyday objects through traditional craft techniques into works that explore identity, gender, consumer culture, and collective memory, always with conceptual depth and a distinctive sense of humour.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at renowned institutions including the Royal Academy of Arts in London, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and the Hermitage Museum. Most recently, she opened the major exhibition VENUS: Valentino Garavani Through the Eyes of Joana Vasconcelos at MAAT in Lisbon, bringing her artistic universe into dialogue with the world of haute couture.
Her works are also held in leading collections such as the Centre Pompidou and the Louis Vuitton Collection.
