Vincent Van Duysen, born in Lokeren, Belgium in 1962, works as a freelance architect and interior designer. His style is minimalist yet sensual. Van Duysen favors original shapes and compact volumes. He taught architectural design at the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Brussels. He describes his works as simple, clear, pure, elemental, essential, minimal, quiet, and relaxed. His exterior architecture is also characterized by clarity and conciseness.
Vincent van Duysen designed “Cascade” for Swarovski Crystal Palace. The opulent, three metre high chandelier cascades from above, alluding to the torrent of a waterfall. It was created using flowing chains of Swarovski crystals intermingled with strands of LEDs. “Cascade” celebrates crystal and light in the grandest sense of the great chandelier tradition. In 2007 “Cascade” was used as a spectacular prop in the filming of “Ocean’s Thirteen” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
Spread over three floors of Swarovksi Kristallwelten Store Wien, there are installations of various artists and innovations made out of and using crystal.
