Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974 and showcased his artistic vision in all its facets for the first time in his installations Mediterranean Digital Baroque and Mon Cirque. These collections positioned Hayon as a pioneer of a new artistic movement that blurred the lines between art, decoration, and design, and heralded a renaissance for elaborately crafted, complex objects within the context of contemporary design culture.
He founded the Hayon Studio in 2001 and quickly won multiple clients. He designed furniture, lighting, and design objects for brands such as BD Barcelona Design, Cassina, Fritz Hansen, Parachilna, Swarovski, and many more. He has also designed interior spaces for hotels, restaurants, museums, and businesses around the world.
Hayon's works have garnered attention in internationally renowned art and design publications and have won him numerous awards, including winning the Elle Deco International Design Award multiple times. Wallpaper Magazine named him in its Top 100 list, calling him one of the most influential creators of the last decade, while Time Magazine declared him a "visionary" and one of the most relevant creators of our time.
Swarovski collaborated with award-winning artist and designer Jaime Hayon to create an impressive interactive installation – the Carousel. The attraction welcomes guests at Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds) in Wattens.
Black and white, modern, with 15 million Swarovski crystals.
Spanish designer Jaime Hayon created an eye-catching piece with his Carousel, which stands in stark contrast to the lush green of the park at Swarovski Crystal Worlds. His modern design reinterprets the classic carousel, while retaining a nostalgic touch. The monochromatic design sparkles with 15 million Swarovski crystals affixed to the 12 panels on the roof and 16 on the wall. This is contrasted by the warm lighting, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Guests can sit on fantasy figures inspired by folk traditions and fairy tales. The roof and railings are adorned with imaginative faces that give guests the same inescapable moments of happiness, wonder, and pleasure found on a carousel ride.
Family-friendly – located in the southwest section of the park.
You’ll find the Carousel in the southwest of the park, next to our other family-friendly installations such as André Heller’s maze, the four-story playtower, and the playground. Guests can discover countless works of art by other famous artists in the expansive park, including works by CAO PERROT, Fredrikson Stallard, Erwin Wurm, Bruno Gironcoli, Thomas Bayrle, Martin Gostner, Kwangho Lee, and Alois Schild.
