Caustic Rays
Loop.pH has created a unique lighting installation that fits seamlessly into the ceiling of the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Wien. An intricate network of curved, reflected optical filters integrates with programmable LEDs to create a visual effect that mirrors the dancing reflections of light moving across water. Loop.pH designs installations that make scientific concepts tangible through carefully staged physical effects. This installation features a caustic network that the studio has carefully modeled and reproduced. A caustic network is the result of light beams being reflected and refracted by a curved object. This phenomenon can be observed whenever light hits a crystal, capturing exactly what we find so captivating about crystals – their fleeting beauty that defies capture, constantly shifting and changing.
