British artist Barry Flanagan is celebrated for his anthropomorphic hares. One of his hares, made of dowsing rods, runs free in the park, in search of water – an element that is very closely linked to Swarovski and its crystals.
Barry Flanagan was born in Prestatyn, Wales in 1941 and studied and later taught at Saint Martin’s School of Art in London. He is regarded as one of the most prominent figures of ‘Pataphysics – a playful pseudoscience devoted to imaginary solutions. He represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale in 1982.
Flanagan died in 2009.
